Voiced by Nicola Walker (Last Tango In Halifax, The Split, Unforgotten) this film explores interfamily relationships and how trauma can be linked to ADHD.
Set Design
There is so much I have to post about Hot Mess that it's difficult to know where to begin. I thought perhaps some side-by-side comparisons of different elements would be a nice visual way to start.
First stop: Set design
There's a whole lot of evolution that happened even before the mock-up stage... but for now, enjoy seeing how close the final set was to my mock-up - it's sort of crazy how the vision I had in my head for this room became a reality in a few short weeks of work.
I chose to create my set with a forced perspective (this looks normal on camera), it's pretty cool if you've not experimented with it before and I loved the result it gave. It's not a process for the untechnical though... trying to plan out and design a staircase with perspective in this way was a bit of a head scratcher - I figured it out though. Oh, and don't get me started on the forced perspective puzzle piece floor design, that is definitely something for another post.
